Gone are the days when a California court or any other automatically sides with a mother in custody situation. A recent ruling in another state is evidence of this. A contentious child custody battle that included accusations of abuse has changed course following a recent jury verdict. Some say the mother involved in the situation needs mental health treatment.
The central figure of this particular custody fight is a 4-year-old child. The child had been in the custody of her mother, who accused the father of inappropriate physical contact with his daughter. The father adamantly denied the accusations, telling the court that the child's mother was merely trying to turn his daughter against him.
As some point, the child went missing, determined later to have been hidden by her mother in direct defiance of an existing court order. What's more, a jury voted to grant managing custody to the girl's father, apparently crediting his claims that the mother sought to alienate the girl against him. A private investigator who spoke on behalf of the father said the jury made the right decision and that this ruling is a victory for all fathers who may be fighting for their rights in similar situations.
Any father in California currently facing child custody problems may wish to proactively pursue legal assistance to protect his rights. This is not the first, nor will it likely be the last case where one parent asserts false abuse accusations against another. Experienced and aggressive legal representation is often the means to swiftly rectify such situations.
